General Maintenance Mechanic II (Part - Time) 533719
Job Summary:
Performs routine maintenance at SOA Miami Beach Urban Studios (MBUS), FIU Miami Beach Visual Arts Gallery, and FIU CARTA | Mana Wynwood, to keep facilities operating properly. This position is located at the SOA Miami Beach Urban Studio.
- Performs highly skilled work in the area of maintenance and repair, such as installation and repair of walls, ceiling tiles, door, door frames, signage, etc.
- Supports SOA MBUS, the Visual Arts Gallery, and Mana galleries and classroom spaces in the installation and de-installation of gallery projects.
- Performs finished carpentry work, repairs, builds, and installs furniture, cabinets, etc. Repairs and monitors lighting and safety equipment that includes signs and general repairs.
- Uses various power tools, such as table saw, radial saw, grinders, drills, sanders, electric hand saws, and other equipment to complete work assigned including but not limited to repairs and in-house renovation.
- Provides support appropriate to cleaning/sanitizing 3D printers and general facility for production.
- Operates a non-university motor vehicle to transport materials and equipment needed to perform the job tasks assigned to this position.
- Assists in the setup and arrangements for MBUS, Mana, and Visual Arts Gallery events, classes, and lectures.
- Performs inspections of equipment for operating deficiencies and makes routine adjustment as necessary. Secures tools, parts, and equipment. Follows operational procedures and safety guidelines.
- Maintains a record of parts and makes recommendations for parts and supplies to be ordered.
- Performs essential duties in any emergencies such as hurricanes, storms, and/or any other university emergency closing. The employee is expected to be available to report to work as needed during university emergency closing with appropriate notification of a department administrator.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Completion of an approved apprenticeship program for mechanical trades or a high school diploma and three (3) years of appropriate experience.
- Valid Florida Driver's - Class E
Salary: $17,786.50
